Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty Implies that Blacks Were Happy Pre- Civil Rights << Hmmm let's take a look at this, shall we?

The latest buzz around the internet surrounds a Phil Robertson of a popular show called Duck Dynasty. He has been in the news for his views on homosexuality, (which laid grounds for a prompt suspension from the show) and now he's on notice for his views on Black people. He said the following about growing up in Louisiana around Blacks during the pre Civil Rights Era: "I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field. ... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word!" The CNN article mentions he also said the following via a quote from GQ Magazine: "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues,"

Ok. Everyone is all up in arms regarding this statement that implies that Blacks were indeed happier without the "pre entitlement" and "pre welfare". Think about that for a minute. I mean really think about it. Sure this statement sounds like something that every White person said about Blacks during that time period. Of course Robertson would say that. I wonder what person thinks that the Blacks would indeed bare their soul to him or anyone like him during that time period. Speaking ills of their situation to the wrong person could get a person hurt and or killed. That being said, I would be very interested to hear stories told by the Blacks he used to work with. It may be possible that he could have glossed over any racial incidents that occurred during that time, because back then, anybody who dared to even think or attempted to question Jim Crow laws were subject to very harsh treatment, that which could include lynching, burning down homes, disappearing, and murder, and that's when jail time and/or beatings didn't work.

Now let's take a look at the other part of the quote that stood out for me: " I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash."

Think about this for a minute. He said he's with the Blacks because his family is White trash.

This implies that Whites get equated with Blacks if they are poor, hence the term "white trash". It seems that Whites really don't want to acknowledge their so called "trash", just as they don't want to acknowledge Blacks as a whole. They would just like to sweep them both under the rug and pretend they don't exist. I feel the issue that needs to be brought up is why so called, "White trash" is treated the same as a catch all for Blacks as a whole. Now if the NAACP was on their job, they should have brought this question to the forefront, and forced the question to be answered while it was all over the media. Then we can sit back and watch the responses, and the NAACP could cry foul depending on how the response is met.

What does one call Blacks that don't fit in the so called "trash" category? Is there a name for that? Does it exist? Then again, it seems there is a term for it. It's called "uppity".

I'm not defending this guy by a long shot. I'm just saying that whenever somebody says something like this, instead of just getting outraged, why don't we take the time to break it all the way down while it's in the spotlight? This way, one can see how the public responds to it, and then we can be the judge on how people react, and whether or not they are perceptive to truly addressing the issue.

FOX News says Santa is White: The Christmas Edition

I'm sure you have heard about this already, but according to Fox News, Santa is White, and so is Jesus.  Everyone was outraged, and it even prompted a teacher in New Mexico to tell a child that they couldn't come to school dressed as Santa because he is White, not Black (who received paid leave for the incident btw).

All I could think of is "Ovvv Course.  Fox News would say something this ignorant, so why are people truly upset?  This country has marketed a White Santa Clause from Day. ONE.  Jesus has been depicted as a blonde haired, blue eyed man in various forms of the media as well.  See, with Fox News, one could expect racist stuff like this to spew forth from their mouths. It is their rule of thumb to twist the viewers minds to fit their agenda. Their job is to tell the viewer what to think and how to act.  It's like getting dismayed when someone announces that water is wet.

And this teacher is straight up ignorant. So what if a kid wanted to wear a Santa hat and beard. He's just getting into the spirit while the magic is still in him.  Now thanks to this fool, the kid will remember when he was told that his race doesn't allow him to wear whatever he wanted. Good job Albuquerque! But waaaaiiiit. Christmas is a time of year for everyone to enjoy.  It isn't about race, it's about faaaamily.  Let's just be haaaapy!  <Get the fuck outta here with that mess.

But wait, let's pretend Santa is indeed "White" for a second.  This guy has the luxury of being able to travel around the world and delivers toys to children by climbing down the chimney, and makes appearances in all of the malls across America.  He lets them sit on his lap and he talks to them to see what they want for Christmas. He's doing a service for all of the kids by making sure they are happy, right?  He's rich enough to purchase all of those toys just so he can give them away (face it, you and I both know that Santa didn't have his elves make that PS4 or the NES you received when you were little). Let's look at this closely:

1. He likes children enough to ask them to sit on his lap so they can talk to him
2. He buys them gifts so they will like him
3. He enters your home through a chimney.

Now, I always thought there was something wrong with the idea of Santa:

First of all, that fat fuck is NOT going to get through anybody's chimney no matter how greasy he is. Second of all, why do parents hand their children to this strange man posing as a person who would bring them happiness. To me, this sounds like how pedophillia begins. And he wants the kids to sit on his lap?!  Really? Really.
Third, he gets into everybody's house while the kids are asleep, and then eats your food.  People know damn well they wouldn't want me coming up in their house, chilling and eating stuff, and then leaving something behind. This sounds like breaking and entering to me.  Now I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but something tells me that I would get arrested and or shot if I did that.

So this guy has the privilege of:
1. Entering the homes of strangers and eating their food with no recourse
2. Allowing random children to sit on their laps while the parents allow it, again, with no recourse
3. Having enough money to buy gifts like that.
4. Traveling around the world

Last time I checked, if I bought a lot of gifts for kids, and made it known, folks would question where I got the money to do so.  But since "Santa" has money, and has the ability to do all of these things, it's okay.  Hell, I can't even go shopping for anything without White parents frantically warning and grabbing their children while telling them to stay close to their parents as soon as they see me coming.  They don't even want me thinking about speaking to their children, especially when they say something first.

Whoa...

Maybe Santa IS White for real, I mean he has all of this privilege that I couldn't dream of having even if I wanted it.

They can keep Santa and have him for themselves. If I had children, the last thing I'd want is them fantasizing about a gift giving pedofile.

Oh, if you are already familiar with my blog, you may have an inkling on how I feel about Jesus so I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year, I hope you have a good one.  As for me, I'm just waiting for this tragic ass year to be over.

That is all.

I Don't Understand Why (insert racist thing) is Racist, Why don't You Clue Me In? < Are you for real?

0_____O < Insert giant side eye here.  Here's why:

Every so often, a White person will ask this question in some way shape or form, and they never cease to amaze me. I decided I'd write a default response:

I think it's crazy for Black people to have to be their teachers on this subject. Why do we need to teach grown ass adults about how to act around different people and races? This is something they should be conscious of. They are the ones who spread the idea that America is a melting pot and that we should all get along. It is up to them to act like they have some sense, and learn on their own. They can google everything under the sun, so why is it that when something racist pops up they want to ask us what the problem is? Did their google ninja skills all of a sudden fail to function? Are their fingers broke? I think not. They need to be accountable for their actions, and stop using other races as a scapegoat for their fuck ups (for lack of a better phrase). That means no more saying things like, "But my Black friend said..." or" I'm 1/16th Cherokee" or "Why do Black people get to ..." and so on and so forth. Stop the foolishness and be accountable for their actions and stay out of Black folks's business (I'm looking at those who always want to say, "But black on black crime....but statistics, but numbers..." and other various talking points and confirmation bias based data, they may want to present to state their so called case. And stop with that oh so convenient, "But we're all American" mess, when they sit up there and want to talk about "Black on Black crime, but never refer to crime committed by Whites as "White on White crime" because then and only then crime is treated as a default or American problem", and crime by Blacks is some mystical phenomenon that must be shamed ,scrutinized, and looked at with disdain. Stop following up with paternalistic tripe whenever pretending to open up dialogue pertaining to Black issues. Long story short, we are not their teachers, and we can't expect them to learn anything about us and how things are when they can't even begin to accept the what when where why and how things got to be the way they are. They better read some books, use their google fu and do real research instead of coming up with voyeuristic things to stroke their own ego and confirm their biases and for gods sake take responsibility instead of blaming everybody else and telling them stuff like "get over it" or "everyone doesn't have the same opinion as you" after they don't like what is said when their questions are answered.

Usually, the response goes:  That's bullshit and you know it. You're racist and you people are impossible. You should be thankful you're brought into this country. It's the best country for your people, and if you don't like it, you should go back to Africa. I'm sure they'd take you.

Really?  Really. Are you sure you want to take the argument there? Naw, I take that back. I read this article that eloquently explains what White America has been feeling as of late. The title leaves much to be desired, but they wrote nothing but truth. For those who don't really like to read and want the TL;DR version of the article in question, I'd like to say : GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT!  Reading is something that is required  when a person has a computer or tries to communicate by using one. People have time to look up things like "What Does The Fox Say?", and shit like this  but don't have time to find out the answers to their questions?!  That's very telling indeed.  If one is actually willing to seek that knowledge, they will do what it takes to learn it, but I'll go ahead and humor folks and post the short version:

Long story short,  they refuse to recognize the accountability of their great grandparents for losing the farms, or making it so minorities would end up taking their jobs, I mean, that's what they voted for, and because of the treatment of Blacks by their ancestors for so long, the so called minority would probably be of no threat to them because they would be doing their own thing away from Whites. But no, they had to keep those Blacks under their thumb by any means necessary, and now things are the way they are because of that. I'm going to say that maybe they should have educated themselves and voted accordingly instead of voting based on party. Maybe they should have read their contracts carefully before signing up for those loans. Maybe they should have worked harder to pay them off. No one told them to take the shortcut and sell their land to pay off the debt. It's called fiscal responsibility and accountability folks! The rest of us are fiscally responsible and are accountable for what we spend and what we do, so why do they think they can get a pass? Plus the media who happens to be controlled by people like them were also telling everybody that having 2.5 kids was the "ideal' for the American family while others were making babies. This unsolicited advice was given for a very long time, I might add, so it isn't our fault that they blindly followed it. Now they are in the minority, so what do they think would happen next over a couple of years? They can't blame other minorities for their loss in income. They need to take a good hard look in the mirror, and look at what their actions have caused them over the years.

That being said, They ought to face it, America is the country where they can exercise their freedoms more than every other country and they pay the least amount of taxes when compared to those in the European union. And since the Native Americans were there first in the US, newsflash, Whites don't own it, as much as they want to think they do and cry about what they see themselves entitled to.  If they don't like it they can leave or just shut up and deal with it. /s

What? they mad? To be continued...

Random Thought #3

Ok, I thought I'd come back again with another random thought. My mind is usually pretty busy and in between my rants and raves about all of the stuff you find here, sometimes I draw parallels to various things. Some are funny, some may be need to drawn out using discussion. Speaking of such, I've got two thoughts to bring to the table. I'll have to preface this one by saying that just because I thought about it and put the ideas together doesn't mean I believe it. I'm just pointing out the double standard here:

Calling all Muslims terrorists and hating them based on their clothes (burkas) and what extremists have done is crazy. Using that logic*, Black people should hate all White people because klansmen were White, and they committed atrocities based on religious beliefs. Therefore, White people look like klansmen, and all of them must be terrorists.

Again, please note, the key words in the observation are "USING THAT LOGIC". The last thing I need to do is argue with somebody who failed to fully read what I'm saying here. That being said, here is my other random thought in reference to the idea of Christian heaven:

I wonder if there are mansions in the Christian version of "heaven" and if I get there and end up with my own mansion, who is going to clean all of those rooms, and why is the ideal lifestyle in heaven the same as a rich person on Earth? What would a dead person do with the "riches" they get in heaven? Is there a shopping center up there or something? Does heaven have a "maintenance crew"? Is heaven really a gated community that people have been paying "homeowner's fees" for whenever they attend church?

Maybe somebody can answer the second one for me, however I encourage dialogue for both thoughts. What do you say about these thoughts of mine? Could there be any truth to them?

Don Lemon... You Know You Done Effed Up, Right?

Recently Don Lemon made news when he mentioned his support for Stop And Frisk. He was quoted as saying, "Would you rather be politically correct or safe and alive?" He also went on to justify it by saying that '"[I]f you question many people in New York City, even some black and Hispanic people,” Lemon claimed, “they will tell you that on the surface they don’t really have an issue with stop-question-and-frisk. Not the idea of it, at least. Not if the controversial policy was conducted like the occasional, random airport screening.”"

Did he stop right there? Nope, this fool kept going, and said, "there are many among the minority community who believe “in theory” that “we’d rather be inconvenienced by being stopped by police than shot by gun-wielding criminals on the street.” However, he said, it’s become too easy for police to become “so drunk with power that they abuse it.”

I'm over here still stuck on his comment about being safe and alive vs being politically correct. It makes me forget my grammar and I want to ask him where is his mother at? Where does he live? Then I want to get mad and ask, How far did somebody have to stick their hand up his ass to get him to say these things, because this guy is a straight up puppet.  I think somebody is paying this fool, there has to be.  I guess I'm not the only one who is telling this fool to GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. In fact, I had to do it twice. Unfortunately, I'm not as concise and eloquent as some folks, so I'll have to give props to  twitter  for chopping him up using less than 140 characters.

Now here's the real kicker about what Don Lemon said about stop and frisk.  Didn't this fool sue Tower records back in 2001 for racial profiling though?<< Is he even serious?!  Did he forget about that or did he he strike a deal with somebody affiliated with that company in exchange that he throw his race under the bus by any means necessary?  Then again, maybe the incident hit too close to home. Maybe it got in his head so much that he decided he must have done, said, or acted 'too Black' that day, which caused him to spend as much time as he could in order to 'cultivate' himself into this image that causes him to deny the people who look like him at all costs. Maybe it affected him similar to the  the16 Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham Alabama which resulted in the killing of four Black girls, one of which was Condoleezza Rice's playmate.  That incident still affects her to this day, and maybe the profiling was Don Lemon's moment of clarity that he's not really ready to address yet.  I don't know, but something is really wrong with this guy. The question is, What is it?

Let's Go Shopping! NOT

In the past week. we have had a bunch of incidents where Blacks have been denied the ability to purchase high end goods. The first incident was when a 19 year old Black engineering student who went to purchase a $350.00 belt at Barneys of New York. A second incident at the same store involved a 21 year old Black nursing student who wanted to purchase a $2500.00 purse at the same location. Then a third incident involving an actor who went to Macey's in order to purchase a $1350.00 watch for his mother. The first incident involved the 19 year old getting detained at the police station for 45 minutes and then he was released after the police were able to verify his ID. Later he ended up returning the belt and getting his money back. The second incident involving her making the transaction without incident, but she was later attacked and pinned up against the turnstile in the subway station three blocks away by four plain clothed cops. The third incident caused the actor to be automatically cuffed even after he told them to check his ID. He had several pieces of identification on him, but the officers insisted that his ID was fake. He was held for 45 minutes and then released without charges.

To shake things up, Jay Z happens to have a clothing line with Barneys.  In fact, he issued a statement regarding the incidents at the location.

I honestly don't know how to feel about Hova's statement.  On one hand, his clothing line helps Black kids get the chance to go to college. On the other hand, he's partners with a place that doesn't like 'his kind' shopping there. Again, I can't tell rich people how to spend their money, but why couldn't he house his clothing line in it's own building? Why doesn't he have his own storefront? Why did he partner with these guys?

On a separate note, over the years, I have switched to online shopping because of my own instances like these. One in particular stands out the most. It took place back in 2000 at a small Sam Goody location in the local mall. As soon as I came in, the clerk made sure to ask if she could help me. I knew exactly where I wanted to go, so I said no and proceeded to visit the section I wanted to browse. At the time, I was looking to purchase Common's "One Day It'll All Make Sense" album, as I had been looking EVERYWHERE for that album and I was hoping to scoop it up. As I was browsing, two little girls (one blonde, and one brunette) around the age of 8 and 9 came into the location. The blonde girl had a big black duffel bag. The attendant kept her eyes on me and it started to make me nervous, so I milled around in the other sections just to see what she was going to do.  In the process, I managed to see the two little girls attempt to steal a CD. The shelf they were hiding behind was kind of short, and thin, meaning they weren't really hiding all that well. On top of that I was able to get close enough to see them handling a Limp Bizkit CD. I could tell which album it was and everything. I kept trying to get closer in hopes the clerk could see them trying to steal it. She didn't say anything to the girls. I watched them make a clumsy attempt to take off the plastic security barrier off the album with little success.  I went to the desk and told the clerk about what I was seeing. Do you know this dumb bitch proceeded to question me about it?!  I told her that some little girls are in the store trying to steal a Limp Bizkit CD while she was watching me.  She had the nerve to ask me where they were. All I could think of was, "This store is small and her ignorant ass can't see where they were?! They were still making an attempt (a very poor one at that) to hide behind the shelf with a big ass duffel bag. I pointed at them, and said they were "right there".  I told her that instead of watching the Black person, she needs to be paying attention to ALL of her customers. I left the store empty handed while the girls were still in the store.

Now before you guys start judging me and calling me a snitch, I'm going to have to stop you right there and tell you to GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT BULLSHIT! Here's why:

I have told this story numerous times and I have said the following:

1. Why did I need to protect those girls? They don't give a damn about me, nor would they ever do so. Would you be willing to sacrifice yourself so some little girls could get away with stolen merchandise while unknowingly (or knowingly) using you as a decoy while there is no real gain for you?
2. What do I look like letting them take that CD and letting the clerk treat me any way she wants?   I could see it all unfold like this
   A. Lets say I stay in the store while the girls get away with the CD. They make their escape while I'm still in the store.  Chances are, they discard the plastic security thing around the CD they stole. The clerk confronts me about a missing CD, and produces the empty security mechanism. She calls her manager and the cops, and I try to tell them that I didn't steal the CD. They don't believe me, and I have to deal with getting searched, fingerprinted and booked for a damn CD that I didn't even steal.
  B. Lets say the kids get away with the CD, and I leave the store. The mall cops get called, and they follow me throughout the mall. More and more of them show up, and I get to enjoy being cornered by these guys plus a few actual cops and the clerk. EVERYBODY,their parents and babies get to see this mess unfold. Not only do I get embarrassed by everybody in the entire mall. The clerk gets to look all smug and righteous because "she caught one" and "knew it all along" as this ordeal unfolds.   She gets to crow about it, tell her friends, and maybe, just maybe get a promotion at the best case scenario. She gets to validate all of her racist bullshit that was probably passed down from several generations in her family, and stroke her ego, and everybody in the mall gets to do the same as well.  <<The fuck I look like!? Are they really serious!?

This kind of stuff has made me avoid stores all together for the most part. I have resorted to doing a lot of shopping online.  I don't even really like going to the grocery stores anymore in fear somebody will harass me. God forbid I actually want to purchase any food. I must not ever have any money because after all, all Blacks are lazy and don't have jobs. If I say I have a job, they have to ask where I work at and they expect me to tell them when I work, how much money I make and what's my job description, meanwhile they get offended if you ask them all of that information because according to 'them' if Blacks have money, they must be on welfare and are getting all kinds of benefits that Joe White Guy can't get because he was brave enough to work and pay taxes like a good American should.

I think it's long past the time for Blacks to stop patronizing these businesses that don't want us around. I think we should find all of the Black designers, and house any and all clothing brands started by Blacks and open up a bunch of Black owned locations. This way, if a Black person wants to buy a $350.00 belt or a $1300.00 watch or a $2500.00 purse, then it's Black money endorsing Black products and putting money in Black hands.

So far, I've found the following resources:

A Natural hair care product line for children with the option of setting up fundraisers
Facebook page with a lot of items of interest
Handmade hats for those with locs. They also have earrings
Lots of women's clothing. Some of the links are busted, but there are a lot of active ones to chose from.

Halloween! Oh goodie! [/sarcasm]

Halloween is approaching and people are getting excited. Businesses have already set up their displays and people are purchasing decorations. So many people are discussing what they plan on wearing and what events they'll be attending. I've never really been a Halloween fanatic to be honest. I think the most I've done is dress up in some sort of half ass costume that revolves around my outfit somehow. I've handed out candy to kids, and one year, I even decorated my house, which was pushing it. As far as I was concerned, it was a day where a person could eat a bunch of candy, make pumpkin seeds, dress up and watch scary movies. Some people have gone pretty over the top with it and I still can't see what the big deal is. Is there something wrong with me? I don't know. But I will say this.

There is nothing wrong with dressing up for Halloween in general, but when I see stuff like this

 this,

this,

this,

or this,

then I have a problem. I have no idea why someone would think these are great ideas, take pictures of themselves dressed as such and or tell someone they dressed up like that. Some years ago, someone once felt compelled to tell me that they dressed up as a Klansman for Halloween. I asked him, Why would you dress up as something like that? Why did you feel the need to tell me you dressed up as that, Where did you even FIND the suit? Why would you even have something like that? Now granted, that costume has a scary reputation, but why would somebody want to be seen in it at all? I don't remember what he said in response to my barrage of questions, but when I asked him if anybody reacted to the costume, he said no one reacted over it. I remember saying that I really wanted to know where he got the costume from, and he mentioned a local costume store. I never went to the costume store to confirm, but I was too busy being upset about the whole thing. It reminds me of the instance of being the only Black person at a party. Of course some 'edgy' person is going to say or do something classless because they claim they were under the influence, but when you add Halloween in the mix, I've come to the conclusion that something will go down, be it somebody showing up as a Confederate Soldier, with a Southern Belle and a slave in tow, somebody showing up in Blackface (which is almost always at one of these parties), or somebody showing up as a 'type of person' and blatantly making fun of the culture associated with that. Those people made the conscious decision to do this before they ingested alcohol, so they can never say that they were just drunk. It's more like No, they're either ignorant and clueless, or they're just an asshole who uses holidays to show their true colors.

I'm not trying to put a damper on anybodies Halloween, but it takes time and effort to come up with an amazing costume. If they don't want to spoil it for others, they should check this out before they get all dressed up. I'll list a few more links just in case you guys decide to spread the word or have any questions:

My Brief Take On The Government Shutdown << I Know, I'm Late

Originally, I wasn't going to write anything about the United States government shutdown because these days, I have no sympathy for the people running the country, nor do I have any for a lot of people in it. Then I realized that I was just being angry and selfish to an extent, so I decided I'd say a little something.

For starters, when I first heard about the shut down, all I could say is, " I bet they'll keep the departments responsible for policing us up and running smoothly. I can also guarantee that Congress, The House and Senate (basically all of those in the DC district deemed "important enough" will be getting paid as well, and if this does affect anybody, it'll be on the so called, 'lowest rungs' of the ladder.) I was correct there. However it is starting to affect anybody who needs to fill out a government application to get approved for, SSI, FHA Loans, Visa, Passports, Gun permits, etc, which was honestly something I expected. However, I didn't expect all of this to happen because Congress didn't like what Obamacare had to offer. At first I thought it was just old news and talk because they have been fighting the Affordable Healthcare Act since day one. But that's not all, they decided to throw a temper tantrum and rage quit their job. Now I don't know about you but I'd get fired if I walked out on my job. Why do they still get paid? But then again, why would I expect them to not get paid. They are not us, nor have they ever been. All in all, it looks just like some spoiled kid in the supermarket who got mad because they didn't get what they wanted. Obama negotiated and negotiated with them and they still wouldn't budge, much like the suburban mother does when pleading with her child to behave. Thanks to these guys, kids will be denied the chance to be a part of the Head Start Program, Mothers with children will not be receiving vouchers via the WIC program, all national parks and monuments will be closed to the public and those who worked at those establishments will be furloughed until further notice. Death and burial befits for the families of deceased veterans have been denied. I'm sure libraries will be affected by this as well, meaning, not only will libraries be closed, but those who manage the libraries will be out of the job. The real questions I want to ask are, why doesn't Obama stop babying these people, get hood on em and beat some ass so he could at least do his job? How long will this mess last? As far as I know, the longest government shutdown ran for 21 days during 1995. At the time, I was a jobless teenager, so I don't know if it affected anybody or not. This time will be different since I'm an adult. All I can say is we'll see what happens next. Hopefully, something could get done before too long, as long as the decision doesn't hurt the citizens too much.

Random thought #2

Hey, guess what? I was thinking about when it became necessary for so many articles of clothing to have big ass logos emblazoned on it and when did that start? Well, I think I found the answer.

The first item of clothing with some sort of big logo was The Poodle Skirt, created in the 1950s by a woman named Juli Lynne Charlot. Originally, the skirt was meant to be made at home with a sewing pattern if a person was unable to buy it at whatever boutique was carrying them at the time.

I find that very interesting, since the idea of living in the suburbs in a brand new house with new appliances, and flashy new car was the new"thing" to do.

Does anybody know of any older brands with a big logo of sorts on it? The only one I can come up with is Lacoste, but I can't find any sources that show any pictures of the earlier clothes that existed in the 30s. I don't think the Lacoste alligator logo was ever big in the past, It may be likely that the alligator was added to the left breast of the shirt later, and maybe the tag had the brand in it.

Anyway, that's my random thought.

Tell Em Why You Mad.

The title of this blog is self explanatory. As you can see (assuming you haven't already), I am pissed. Off. Why, you ask?  Well, I thought things would be better by now. Older generations often speak about the so called "good ol' days," and about how all the generations after theirs are garbage, and no matter who I talk to, they all say the exact same thing. They say things like "(insert scapegoat here) is causing kids to be violent. Music these days is hypersexualised and over the top. Kids don't dress respectable anymore. TV is crap, etc..." They do this from up high, as if their generations have poop that smells like sun shine and lemon blossoms, and they couldn't have possibly done any wrong. And yet, all of this mess came from somewhere and it didn't just drop out of the sky one day and smite one generation. No one wants to really look at where all of this so called "filth" came from and how it got here.  Could it be that so called filth came from their generations and prior? Let's just take a look at some of it:

1. The youth today are so violent because of violent tv and video games.

People have been fighting for eons and centuries. The kids from prior generations played cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians, and Army Men, etc with toy guns that their parents bought them. If the parents decided to go all out, the kid had a cap gun to simulate the actual shooting sound. They had toy tanks, and costumes complete with bandoliers. TV and radio programs depicted these games or stories that often contained violence. Before that, there were horror stories, and tall tales being told by family members. So for them to sit there and say that the kids are violent because of TV and video games is very hypocritical and shortsighted at best. They conveniently forgot that when they were kids, they were outside either acting out the violence, or talking about it whenever they had the time. Throughout several points in history regardless of the country of origin, events were marked and shaped by violence. I guess using their logic, the Civil Rights Movement was a result of some of them playing the LynchaN!gger video game series by Mattel  while growing up or something because where else would that violence have come from.  They never ever hurt anybody because they were the best and greatest generation, right?<< Get The Fuck Outta Here With That Mess.

2. The kids dress so horribly these days.(Fair warning, I don't share any sentiments mentioned against the people who wore the types of clothing mentioned, I'm just combining a lot of the crap I've heard spoken about those who wore or wear said attire.)

Back in the day, greasers existed. Nobody really liked the greasers, and they were seen as thugs with their fast cars, greasy hair, wearing their underwear (white t-shirt) on display for everybody to see, and wearing sneakers outside of gym class.  Nobody liked the hippies, with their lack of proper support wear (bras), those guys who "look like girls" and won't cut their hair, and all that "free spirit shit" they were into, and how some of them smelled and looked like they rolled out of bed solely for the purpose of doing "whatever dope they're into at the moment." And let's not forget the punk rockers of the 80s' with their gravity defying hair all gelled up, and their raggedy clothes, how they disgraced the military uniform by wearing the camouflage pants with Chuck Taylor's, and the leather motorcycle jackets with all of the writing on them. And we have to mention the 70s with the bell bottoms, the platform shoes with the goldfish in them, the butterfly collars, the afros (Don't front, Blacks and Whites wore them ). Before all of that there was the Zoot Suit movement, and before that women were shortening their skirts, and some of them had the nerve to wear (gasp) pants! Hide your kids, hide your wife folks, all hell fina break lose because people are sagging their pants right now as I type this. <<Get The Fuck Outta Here. They can't be serious. Trends for the better or worse have come and gone. Every so often, the style gets recycled, resulting in another generations chance to wear the previous styles with a twist. They aren't hurting anybody. They may look funny, but it's just a fad regardless of what time era the kids belong to.

3. Music and television is so bad, and back in my day they had quality programming.

Here's a short list of shows from "back in the day" that depicted some questionable stuff:
The Honeymooners- (1957) This show is routinely centered around verbal abuse in a relationship. The main character would threaten his wife by saying, "One of these days, POW! Right in the kisser!", while shaking his fist at her, or "BANG, ZOOM! Straight to the moon!", This  basically means, "One of these days I'm going to punch you in the face. And I might punch you so hard you fly to the moon" < So they are encouraging domestic abuse now?!

The Three Stooges (1921)- This show was a slap stick comedy act that consisted of nothing but violence. People would get hit in the head with hammers, wood saws used on their heads, pliers used to pull someone's nose, objects thrown at each other, and a whole host of things that could be very easily emulated by children, and all done in the name of 'good fun'. I used to watch this same show when I was a kid. That means this show was displayed in various forms from 1921 until the mid 80s, and I think it's still shown to this day. < That's a lot of generations watching that show. How many kids from how many generations ended up injured because of that show?

Amos 'n' Andy- If you are reading this blog and you have read it in the past, then you may already know about this show. If not, I'll just say that it was a minstrel show that stayed popular from the 1920s to the 1950s,and was once a radio show before TV had become widely available.

There were also countless good guy vs bad guy shows on TV, a lot of them included a healthy dose of bullets flying, gun slinging, car chases, a death or two, etc. Again, this goes back to the kids imitating the shows. How many kids grew up wanting to be a policeman who caught and or shot the bad guy? How many wanted to be cowboys so they can kill  Native Americans? How many wanted to go in the armed forces for the chance to kill a "Kr@ut", "J@p", "G00k", or (insert the current 'fashionable' racial slur of the day here)?

Let's take a look at music and songs
Rock and Roll- The name for this music was also a slang term for sex, and people said the music sounded like it. Some even went as far as to call it "Devil Music" (which resurfaced during the 70s' when somebody said that if you play a rock album backwards, the artists say demonic or drug related things.

Elvis Presley- Those famous hips caused parents to lose their minds because it looked like sex to them (o_0 I don't know what kind of sex they were doing...buuut ummm okaaay), and they didn't want the television programs to show all of that gyrating. My guess they must  be some horny mofos to get that impression out of Elvis and old school Rock and roll in general, but I digress.

Son Of A Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield<< That song is not about Jesus and going to church (shakes pointed index finger). It's about a girl losing her virginity to the preacher's son when nobody was looking. Don't believe me? Listen to it closely.

Teach Me Tonight by Dinah Washington(1950s)<< This song is not about studying or  late night cram sessions. Well, maybe not the kind that require books, but I'm sure you see where I'm coming from ...umm, wait (no pun intended).

"Jelly Roll" Morton   was a jazz pianist in the 1900s who started to get big in the 1910s. His name was slang for female genitalia. << Yes, you read that right. There was a dude who played piano in the early nineteen hundreds who went by today's stage name equivalent of "Punani" (for lack of a better word) "Morton", and he was famous!  With. That. Name.  And you know what else? He got his start by playing in brothels, and his lyrics were "questionable."

"Frankie and Johnny"  was a song about a man who cheated on his significant other. She heard he was with another girl, so she found him at the tavern and killed him. << Are they advocating murder

Ring Around The Rosie - This is a song that many kids grew up singing, and dates back to the 1700s. It's about The Plague and how everybody was dying so fast that bodies were in the streets. People had to stuff the pockets of the corpses with posies to prevent the towns from smelling so bad. << Kids have been merrily singing this song in circles for years and years, but no one has complained about the meaning of it or how it may warp young minds. London Bridge is another one of those songs. In fact, I think this may have been one of the songs that came with the Fisher Price cassette player.

I'm sure there are quite a few shows, and songs that are a bit "inappropriate," but I can't list them all because there are waaay too many to do so. I'm just wondering where did people get the idea that all of a sudden (insert every generation after them) is so messed up. I guess as long as they get home from work in time to eat dinner, slap their wives and rape her sister, all Streetcar Named Desire like, wait for their kids to come home from screwing their dates at "Look out" Point, then go out with the guys to kill some "other"s all to the soundtrack of fake laughing, while wearing their smartest threads, everything is alright.  Just be sure to grab your smoking jacket, light up a cigarette and pour yourself a glass of  fine brown liquor at the end of the day and everything will be A-Okay.<< Rest assured, now that's the stuff that'll prepare us for generations of winners. << How come nobody told them to Get the Fuck Outta Here With That Bullshit?  My hunch is that some were either too busy not giving a damn, or too busy being afraid of their elders; you know...respect and all, I guess.

Juicy J Scholarship Update<< It's For Real

I thought this mess was over, but it looks like it is for real. Check the site and the video submissions:

In case you haven't seen my original blog on this subject, here it is.

Some of the video submissions surprise me. There are girls who blatantly say that they aren't interested in shaking their ass for money, and they shouldn't lower their standards to do so.

I really hope he gives the money to a truly deserving person.

The Hate That Hate Produced- My attempt on taking a 'stab' at Black on Black Crime

Lately, I've been reading a lot more than I have in the past. I average on reading and completing four or five books a month. My latest book is Richard Wright's Uncle Tom's Children. I was reading the chapter called "Big Boy Leaves Home", which follows four young boys that skipped school to swim in a local lake. They took their clothes off for a quick dip, then all of a sudden, a White woman appears. They were startled, and wanted to get their clothes. They were debating on whether they should stay still and try to hide or grab their clothes and get out of there. The main character who goes by the nickname of "Big Boy" decides to grab his clothes, and he is spotted by the woman. Big Boy tries to calm her down by saying that he was just trying to get his clothes. She screams and a man appears (later mentioned to be her husband). The man has a gun, the boy and the man wrestle, which results in two out of four of the Black boys getting killed by the White man. The boy involved in the struggle manages to kill the White man with his own rifle. Panic ensues, and the two remaining boys run home. The boy involved in the scuffle ran home and explained the issue to his parents. The boy's father is initially upset because the boys were supposed to be in school. The parents enlist in the help of the preacher and a neighbor. They devise a plan to hide the boy so he doesn't get lynched later. The family gives the boy in distress some cornbread to take with him, and the boy hides. The sun sets, and he hears some noise. His friend is in the distance, however the boy in hiding hears voices. It's the White mob. The mob discusses their hatred for Blacks and how all of them in "this country" should be killed. A White man bragged about how they thought they found "one" and how they burned a shack and drove a "nigger woman" out of it, how they set it on fire, and that one particular mob member should have been there to hear her "holler". They discuss in detail about what they will contribute to the hunt. One person brought a pillow for feathers, another person offered gasoline, if needed. They start singing a song that starts with "We'll hang ever nigger t' a sour apple tree." They discover the hidden boy's friend who happened to be lurking in the darkness, and they proceed to tar, and feather him. Once that was complete, they cut up the body for souvenirs, and then burned the body.

I had to stop reading for a while.

I thought about what drives people to do these things. I began to get enraged, I made up my mind that some of these people are empathy-less monsters incapable of having human emotions, and a rational thought process. I also thought of Black on Black crime, and how every so often, I get the joy of hearing the following paraphrased mantra, "We no longer need the KKK to kill Blacks. They do all of the work for us."

Let that marinate for a bit.

I also hear people constantly holding up Black on Black crime in order to excuse killings of Blacks by Whites. I have asked people why it happens, and I always get this as an answer: Hate is taught in the homes of Blacks, and they are the most racist people in this country (North America).

I ask, Why is hate taught in the homes of Blacks, and why are they the most racist in the country? I either get no response, or I get something to the affect of, "They don't know any better." or "That's just how they are."

Think about that for a second.

Here you have a race of people who were treated like shit for many many years in various ways based on skin color, by another group of people who have their minds made up that they are the superior people out of all of the groups. They were denied jobs, spat on, fed scraps, paid close to nothing for their hard work while working for that so called superior group (and that's when it was no longer fashionable to not pay them at all), referred to as "beasts" at a certain point in time, they have been denied the opportunities to get loans with decent rates to start businesses, or buy houses, they have been told to die for a country that treats them like second class citizens, they have been killed or beaten to teach others who look like them to not "step out of bounds", which could mean looking at a "superior" person in the eye, not using Mr. or Ms when greeting them, not taking off their caps in elevators, and not kowtowing to them in general. They have been basically told that their life isn't nor will it ever be worth anything unless they kowtow well "enough", and "enough" is used subjectively. Needless to say, those people are going to have a major inferiority complex and will take it wherever they go, and they will pass it down from generation to generation regardless of where they choose to take up residence. In laymen's terms, "that shit will follow them wherever they go, no matter what they do." And folks have the nerve to be angry with them for that?! << GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE?! ARE THEY REALLY THAT DENSE?!

Some Whites want to be mad, dismayed and hurt because they can't walk in the Black neighborhoods because they are White. They want to dismiss the feelings of Blacks because "That was a long time ago, and that you should get over it already, because we gave you jobs, and food stamps." They want to say that, "Some people just can't appreciate what they were given, and they don't want to thrive and grow because they are lazy."

They want to blame Black on Black crime because they fail to see where it came from. Where did the idea that a Black life wasn't worth anything come from? How did that idea get there? Blacks have made strides to do better, but people will commit crimes against each other no matter where they live. Add poverty in the mix and it's a recipe for disaster regardless of said ethnicity. Do a google search on "Appalachian hollers" or visit any trailer park in North America for instance. You'd find the same things, but no one is attacking these people in these areas. The media only attacks Black people. Why is that?

I suspect some pretty strong denial, cognitive dissonance, willful ignorance, and who knows what may be to blame. Now before you sit up and say that I hate White people, and call me racist, you have it all wrong. I hate what the hate produced. I am aware of where it came from and why it exists amongst Black people. I hate seeing Black people kill each other. I hate the fact that a person can't just come home from work without worrying about getting hit by a stray bullet from some kids who managed to get their hands on some guns because they were spoon fed by the media on glorifying guns based on good ol' American culture enjoying its God given right to bear arms again. I hate that some Black people treat those who look like them like crap (especially in majority White states) based on skin color as if they never saw a mirror or their own reflection in their lives. Stockholm syndrome is in full effect, y'all. I want to know what we are going to do about it and how we are going to help each other understand the who, what, when, where, why, how, and the which-es, regarding it.

I think that's my blog for the week. We'll see what happens next.

Is Hip Hop Destroying Black America? - Sure, let's go over that one more time.

I had the opportunity to get behind the scenes look at my local college radio station. I noticed they played the same songs each week, but in a different order each day. They would rotate a new song or two in the regular playlist from time to time. As a result, the listener gets pummeled with the same message over and over and over, which desensitizes them. As a result, some people seek out the life depicted in the songs, and some don't. This same effect could be seen with Rock and Roll. For a while "sex, drugs, and rock & roll" was the mantra for the genre, and may still be. Some people succumb to it, and some don't. People use music as an escape, and as a result, they are listening to the radio and wishing they were in that life (just like watching TV sitcoms did for a lot of people). It gets perceived as how life should be, and so it's imitated. Since Blacks make up a small percentage of the population, a larger section of that group will appear to succumb to it more often than others. Other ethnicities will display a broader selection of people who have bowed to certain ideals presented to them because there are more of them to draw from. I feel that is why it looks like American Blacks in general are doing far worse than other ethnicities in this country. Thanks to the media, we have seen the American Dream being shoveled into our faces through various outlets, and as a result, people are bragging about getting: money, sex (in various ways and methods), drugs, material possessions... you get the point. People desire these things, and will stop at nothing to get them. So before we accuse hip hop of doing this to a select group of people, we must recognize that America has been doing this to the WHOLE. WORLD., for quite some time, and this is just a cog in the machine, so to speak. The poorest of the poor come to North America in search for some of these things. They flock here because in some way, shape or form, media has told them that America is the place to be if you want to be somebody, meanwhile America's poor (and not so poor) people are seeking this out as well. The American Dream does not help Blacks at all because the same media that touted riches for everybody who entered, is the same media that systematically and continuously crapped on that particular ethnicity for so many years, in various ways and told them to shut up about it at the same time. Could you blame them for screaming for the American Dream, since it seems like everyone has it and they don't, especially when statistics are routinely made in order to drive the message home ? We have kids and adults from poor to upper middle class backgrounds that want to be "bad bitches", and want to be associated with BIG MONEY, and if they can't get there, they can at least look the part. As a result, you have people all across the board, regardless of race facing foreclosures, people going to college expecting to make BIG dollars straight away after they just put themselves so far into debt they have to live with their parents, we have for profit colleges, people with ATV's, Boats, RV's, cars, and stuff like that they can't pay for, broke folks with six hundred dollar cell phones, and really high cable bills. People are reading Better Homes and Gardens, entering the Publishers Clearing House (if that still exists),and scratching lottery tickets in hopes to "make it big" right now because if "so and so can do it, then I can too, because that's the American Dream, right?"

People like to point to hip hop and say, "Look at what those people are saying with their music, that's destructive! :o ". but it's just a cog in the whole machine. The whole culture it represents is destructive, and no matter how it is spun, that is NORTH AMERICAN culture. Who decided that was American culture? You can't lay baited mouse traps in a room with mice, then turn around to pontificate why those particular mice got snared up, then collect data about it while shaming the mice for "being so self destructive". People must recognize the what, when, where, why, which, and how a situation got to where it is at the moment before they make accusations regardless if it is about self degrading music, or whether issue you may feel strongly about. Once the issue or issues are turned over and looked at from as many angles as possible, then and only then will a solution be found and things will be able to change.

From my standpoint, the image of the snake eating its tail comes to mind. I feel that hip hop is not the culprit here, it's this gangster ass pyramid scheme of a culture that belongs to North America.

N!gger- The Workplace Edition < REEEEMMMIIIIIIX (insert loud annoying mixtape DJ voice followed by an air horn)

A federal case involving that infamous word has surfaced. It's not what you think though. A woman's boss went on an n-word laced verbal tirade regarding workplace attire. Eventually it lead to her taping her boss's comments after her complaints about his unprofessional behavior, and the whole thing went federal, resulting in the woman being rewarded $30,000 in punitive damages, and $250,000 in compensatory damages.

Here's the twist:  All parties involved were Black.

All I can say is Get The Fuck Outta Here.  I thought more than enough folks knew not to speak like that in the workplace regardless if it's between Black people or other races?  Her boss should have been ashamed of himself.  Partially to his defense, the article indicates that he is a Black person of Puerto Rican descent, but  he's old enough to know better.

Part of me feels the whole thing is ridiculous because it is common knowledge to keep that kind of language out of the work place. It makes for a potentially toxic and or racist environment for not just the parties involved, but every employee would be affected. It is the bosses job to show his employees what professionalism looks like, and how he expects his employees to behave among themselves and their clients.
And to add insult to injury, this mess went FEDERAL.  All he had to do is apologize and he didn't until she was awarded all of that money. I give this guy credit for how he turned himself around, but berating folks is not the business. All I can say is that I hope he starts offering a course on what kind of language and behavior is appropriate in the workplace, and the judge was correct.

All in all, there are a few things to take away from this situation:
1.If you must use the word, use discretion.
2.When at work, stay classy and keep the streets in the street.
3.When in doubt, keep the word out of your mouth regardless of what color you are (I lean more towards this one, in case you haven't seen my other blog entry pertaining to the word in question.).

That is all.

“South Side” Woman Writes Martin Luther King Inspired Letter To White Republicans- Someone Please Call 9-11 (In My Wyclef Jean voice)

Something told me that sooner or later all of the fools would flock to the internet to take their stabs at Blacks after the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington.   I just wondered how long it would actually take. I began to imagine how many so called "well rounded" White people have decided to replay that infamous Boondocks episode where MLK came out of his coma so they could wait with baited breath to hear him cuss out Black people just like they dreamed of doing but never dared to out of fear.  Now they have the luxury to watch it again and again, and say things like, "See? I was right." while showing it off to their frat brothers and like minded progressive friends who have missed the point yet again.   By then, I was angry before, but I had started to get mad, so I consciously tried to erase that image out of my head so I could continue working towards something positive.

After reading and listening to Joe Walsh spit his predictable bullshit, and revisiting my anger,  I was pleasantly surprised to see this letter written by Kathy Henry.

Oh. My. God.  Oh Lawd Jesus it's a fire!

All I can say is that I don't think I could have said it better myself. From the looks of it, there are no comments yet, so I could imagine what would happen next. Heads will explode when they read this letter. Shrapnel will be everywhere. People will be stammering in their speech, and left feeling flabbergasted, and they will be left looking red in the face.  Now I have never heard of this woman, and I don't know what she does, but she was very on point with it. I salute her. In fact, I'm going to drink a bit of wine and celebrate what she said because she straight up ROASTED them.

And if that doesn't take the cake, Joe Walsh's ignant ass had the NERVE to owe $117,437 in child support.  <<This mutha fucka here..... was talking big shit on Black families not having fathers, and he can't even pay child support?!  I don't know about you guys, but I don't know anybody who ever owed that much money in back child support in their entire lives up to this point. Looks like somebody's projecting a bit.  And this fool made a lot of money (and probably still does).    Check the 7:25 mark on this video.  He almost lost his mind when Martin Bashir put him on blast, lol!

I just had to throw that out there.

As for the woman who fired shots at White Republicans, more power to you. Not only did you touch White republicans, you touched everybody who wants to throw Blacks under the bus whenever they see fit.   I'm looking at  Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reiley, Howard Stern (and don't give me that 'he's Jewish so he doesn't count' crap,) Bobby Jindal and anybody else who loves to share those sentiments, especially if they are Brown, Yellow, or Black.

Kathy Henry, I raise my glass to thee.

I Can't Call It.....

August 25 marked the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr's famous "I Have A Dream" speech.
This is a grand time for folks to get a chance to point at Black people and say things like, "Look, they still can't get it together! It's been fifty years and they are worse than before, lol."<< Get the Fuck Outta Here With That!

Now that I've got that out of the way. Here's how I really feel about it.

There have been so many blatant in your face gratuitous 'fuck yous' given to Black people over the years it's been ridiculous. It's not just White people giving them, but it's every immigrant who dares to move to the US has engaged in such sports (Bobby Jindal, cough) . We have a Black man who was elected for president twice, considering it was hell for a certain cross section of people to vote due to all of the obstacles presented in 2012, due to wait times, and changing the poll locations in the first place. Aside from that, Obama is not doing his job, and the same people who were mad about him being president the first time are still mad, while conveniently ignoring the fact that Congress had no interest in cooperating with the president.  I won't go into too much detail because I already covered the president's treatment in a previous blog, so I won't waste your time, but as you can see in all of my blogs, race relations are at an all time low.

Honestly, I am really glad race relations have gone completely downhill right now. This way, all of the crap that people were desperately and not so desperately trying so hard to hide can no longer be hidden and we can call them on their bullshit. Unfortunately sometimes their behavior looks like it's bringing us back into the 50s again (read as right where we left off before MLK Jr left this world).  Maybe it goes to show you that you really can't drag the ignorant kicking and screaming into a so called bright future. They will resist, and make sure it doesn't happen (read as you can't make a bunch of people like you regardless of how well you dress, how poised you are, or how beautiful you appear so stop trying).<< Boy were they correct on that one, but I digress.

As a result, I've been thinking a lot about what The States are going to look like in the future. I also think about what American history is going to look like. Things are looking really really bleak right now, so I have no idea what to expect, however as a result, I have had many dreams related to this and what may come out of it:

I can definitely see The States breaking away and forming their own countries later down the road. That may not necessarily be a bad thing. I honestly don't think this country could continue to be run by a group of people in a small district on one side of the country like it has been. I believe strongly that once the states secede, things will be easier for the citizens of said countries because they can govern themselves and have  more say in what's going on where they live. Big government is bad, it has been said and seen time and time again and it is also seen to the same effect in overcrowded schools. A teacher can't effectively teach 27 children, the classrooms have to be smaller in order to create a better experience.  On a brighter note, I can also see that Black people are killing it with technology right now. We have all of these online radio stations, blogs YouTube channels, and it's wonderful!  We have access to BandCamp and SoundCoud so we can put out meaningful music without being subject to a greedy record label whose only interest is to pimp so called "urban" images as a means to exploit 'what's hot' right now. This technological movement among Black people has me wondering, "What will go down in history? Is it possible that our future generations will read about the pioneers who made a way when the future was looking rather dim? Will the blogs be used as an archive to represent the latter part of Black history, with all of their sources tied in a neat (or not so neat) package?  Will our rants, raves, critiques, photos and events be looked at in several African -American Studies classes in the future?  How will our presence shape the North American continent? How will we be viewed all across the world?

I think  people overseas will eventually see what Black people have created and they will flock to those places like people in The States currently flock to various places in the Eastern Hemisphere. The North American continent will have it's own version of Black Rome (Detroit), people will study the Motown Era of Black music, and what caused the empire of Detroit to fall. Chicago will be visited for it's variation of blues,  1520 Sedgewick Ave in The Bronx will be the Hip Hop Motherland where all cultures interested in the music would flock just to get a taste of where it all began.  People will visit various places where early hip hop took place, they will dissect and be interested in what factors in said area influenced the rappers from that particular region, their style and what regional sounds influenced their production.  Watts and Compton will be the go to areas for California, people will want to know where and how Afro punk fits into Black culture as well, and will be enthusiastic about searching for its history.   They will examine our fashion, regional vernacular, and influences in other genres of hip hop and other art forms created by us, and people will search high and low to come up with obscure pieces of work done by early African Americans. Honestly, I think Blacks will be seen in a great light.  It may even be possible that others will see what's going on over here right now and American Whites  will end up being the ones who get treated like crap based on their history, and how they warped so many minds to think otherwise. Maybe they'll have to watch their Ps and Qs and be required to bend over backwards to prove they can spend time in a foreign country without attempting to destroy  every other culture in some random way that had been witnessed throughout American history.

Sometimes I wonder. Each generation says something to the effect of "I don't know what's wrong with kids today", or "This world is gone very bad. What happened?"  I can't tell if it's gotten worse, or if it's just our turn to see the same stuff.  The only difference is that our media scope is far greater than that of our grandparents. Hopefully we can use it to our fullest so others can read our stories and learn from them.  As of right now, I get very discouraged, but it was fun to dream about what greatness Blacks hold in their future.

I just hope I get to be alive and well enough to see and experience it, and maybe be a part of it.

Racial Inequality Is Because Minorities Are Too Proud of Their Heritage- According to Bobby Jindal

The Governor of Louisiana blamed racial inequality because minorities won't assimilate.  Okay, Bobby I see you. Yet another person trying to tell Black and Brown people to assimilate into the main stream culture, while pointing at Martin Luther King to set an example, except this one has a brown face, so I guess it's okay, right?  For those who didn't see this coming, or those who don't know exactly what I'm about to talk about, lets take a closer look at why his comment and others like it (regardless of the color of the person that says this kind of stuff) sounds like the same paternalistic patronizing tripe that North America continues to feed to it's citizens and those abroad:

1. The historically bad treatment of Blacks in North America

For those who haven't looked into American History, one can plainly see that Blacks were treated very very poorly, especially after the slaves were set free (read as let go). During these times, Blacks tried their hardest to assimilate and create new lives for themselves. They created schools, churches, stores and various other businesses. During the 1920s, A lot of Blacks were doing pretty well for themselves, until somebody somewhere decided otherwise. Granted there were some who were struggling, but it's what to expect when you analyse any cross sections of a population regardless of where and who is being examined.  Some folks were trying to go along to get along, and that didn't go so well.  Enter Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr here.

Since folks want to have the benefit of propping up Martin Luther King Jr and his most famous speech when ever they see fit, why don't they take a step back and look at what happened with him. As mentioned in my other blogs, he was shot.  This was an educated Black man who 'spoke very well' (whatever that means) and dressed respectable. He never wore a hoodie, or any so called "non respectable" clothing. He was eloquent, clean shaven and quite handsome if I do say so myself.  He dressed like everyone during his day, and so did a lot of people all across the country.  He was still killed. Dare I say that he was killed for not assimilating?

Rosa Parks was a beautiful woman who carried herself well, and spoke as such. Both Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa attended church regularly.  Rosa was not shot, but she had been arrested for not conforming, like Martin Luther King Jr. Dare I say that she was arrested for not assimilating?

Countless Black people were either arrested or out right killed. For Example, Emmitt Till was killed for whistling at a White woman. Dare I say he was killed for not assimilating? Medgar Evers was killed as well. Was it because he wouldn't assimilate either?

2. Today

We have Black millionaires who have gone above and beyond in proving they can make it. Oprah Winfrey is a great example of that, but why did she experience bad treatment in Zurich while shopping? Why did the clerk lie about what happened? Paul Mooney has expressed his feelings on proper treatment as well, and so has Michael Eric Dyson on catching a cab in New York City while wearing his suit and tie. Henry Louis Gates, a professor at Cambridge University(for crying out loud)  was arrested because someone in his neighborhood thought he was trying to break into his own home.  These people are classified as highly educated, and have assimilated. Why did these things happen to them?

There was a case mentioned previously in my blog regarding a man who was mistaken for a burglar by his neighbor, causing him to get shot by the police.  He had assimilated, according to the so called standards set by Bobby Jindal. Why was he shot ?

Let's move on to the "melting pot" idea.

Take a look at each of these cases mentioned above. Honestly, I don't think there ever was such an ideology that was practiced in this country.  The Black people mentioned above were completely assimilated, and bad things happened to them.  People will argue and say, "That was a long time ago. Quit bringing up the past.", in reference to most of those posts. The comments on the  most recent incidents would play out like the following, "They were overreacting and crying racism. I'm so sick and tired of hearing Black people cry and whine about this stuff. They are always the victim, and need to stop the victim or poor me mentality and Get over it already." To them I say, "Explain this incident then.  This article mentions that a server in a South Carolina restaurant named Wild Wings Cafe denied service to a party of twenty five Black people because one White patron felt uncomfortable.

Now I'm sure there are people saying ? What? Really?  These people chose to keep one patron happy vs asking the uncomfortable person to leave so the bigger party could provide more money for the establishment is a "dead giveaway" (in my Charles Ramsey voice).   Who in their right mind would do such a thing? It is just bad business plain and simple.  However the interesting thing about it is that I am not surprised. Restaurants have the tendency to have the most racist folks running them sometimes.  Were these people assimilated?  I mean, they chose to eat at a homogeneous American restaurant right? They like the same food as the uncomfortable patron, so I guess that counts for something according to Mr Jindal.  These tactics were popular  for a long time, especially in the south, but they still happen all over the country in one way or another. Why? The same can be applied to Oprah's situation where the clerk said Oprah was a liar. Who in their right mind would miss out on obtaining such an astronomical commission? Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't.

Since he wants to worry about people being too attached to their heritage, maybe he should start with the gun toting turbo Christian right wing people who secretly and not so secretly wish the south would rise again.  Maybe he should talk to those who don kilts, play bagpipes or engage in Renaissance fairs because some aspects of it may be part of their heritage. Maybe he should go after those who wear or keep early European artifacts due to their family tree being traced back to the war involving (insert European group here) in the year 600 AD.  After all, that's waaaay before slavery in the Americas started, so maybe they should get over it and stop trying to be something they clearly aren't. Surely, they would have decided to call themselves American by now, I mean, why don't they stop parading around in archaic European garb and join the twenty first century. Maybe they ought to stop pretending to be Irish on St. Patrick's day, or getting shamrock tattoos on their person.  Maybe he should talk to those who are hell bent on being cowboys, and embracing so called "redneck" culture. Maybe they should stop naming their kids Seamus, Sean, Riley, or any other ethnic name because they are American, right?  I guess that's why Mr Jindal changed his first name to "Bobby".  That's saying something because this guy comes from India, a country that was occupied by the British for so long that the effects are still there after they left.  That being said, it seems that when it comes to being Black or Brown in this country, everybody wants 'those people' to erase their heritage and as long as they are White, they are free to explore their heritage to their hearts content.

Some 'melting pot,' huh? << Get The Fuck Outta Here With That Bullshit.
